The people who invented Flokati rugs are the Vlachos, who lived in Samaria – the highest village in Pinios Mountains. Originally, Flokati rugs were used by shepherds to warm them during cold winters on pastures.
The Greek shepherds sheared their sheep and goats; and the wool was sold to the nearby villagers from Thessaly, Macedonia and other regions.
