Shag Rugs |
Now we will tell about some techniques that are used in the production of shag rugs. In the production of shag rugs the following technique is used: fabric pieces should be ten centimeters long and two centimeters wide. These pieces are looped over two basic warp threads in a carpet knot to make a shaggy side relatively smooth.
There are several types of shag rugs that are weaved now by different people and braided by carpet producers. Among them you can find knotted shag rugs, strung shag rugs and other kinds.
We will start from the easiest method of shag rugs’ weaving. A two-string method suggests that two firm threads are used to make shag rugs.
To make the tension on strings more even, they are wound around two strengthening sticks. The weaver line up knotted strips of future shag rugs along the strings, making long locks of fabric. To make shag rugs complete, the knotted locks are then sewn together side by side.
Strung shag rugs are made as follows: small scraps of fabric are strung along a firm thread. Then the strung fabric is then coiled and sewn, and knitted, and shag rugs are ready and are waiting for you.
